Sorgvry House of Guests

Uwe and Carel relocated from Hamburg, Germany to Barrydale in 2004 and converted this stunning 1920’s building , situated in the very heart of the village ,into an exquisite boutique hotel. Their passion for what they do shows in everything : from their beautiful garden , the spectacularly decorated rooms to Uwe’s outstanding cooking and baking skills.

The building of Sorgvry will be turning 100 years old next year, hence it shares the feeling of when a time was simple and caring. We have 4 lovely individual ; rooms. The African Room ,Oriental Room Belgian Room and Asian Room, African Room: Beautifully decorated by our very own Magpie Art Collective artists. This room has been tastefully done with recycled materials. You will be amazed at the creative minds that reside in Barrydale. Equipped with: tea & coffee making facilities, toiletries (body wash and shampoo, hand soap and lotion), two bath robes, hairdryer and a shower cap this bed can be split to accommodate separate sleeping requests.

Oriental Room - Richly royal, yet cosy - cleverly decorated to incorporate a feel of the Orient for those who love, or long to travel. Equipped with: tea & coffee making facilities, toiletries (body wash and shampoo, hand soap and lotion), two bath robes, hairdryer and a shower cap. The bed can be split to accommodate separate sleeping requests.

Belgian Room: Elegant Simplicity, perfect for two people travelling together who do not want to share a bed. This room also has a totally separate, private bathroom. Equipped with: tea & coffee making facilities, toiletries (body wash and shampoo, hand soap and lotion), two bath robes, hairdryer and a shower cap.

One feature I truly loved about Sorgvry is walking on the wooden floors in the hallways. The study is a great place to take a moment and enjoy new friends and family.

With plenty to do in the town of Barrydale it does not leave you much time to enjoy the hospitality of two great men, Uwe and Carel, the owners of Sorgvry. Make sure you spend a few nights in this great place to truly appreciate all we have offer.
